About The Initiative - Why

Why

Currently one in four 18 year olds are not enrolled to vote and young people remain under-represented on the electoral roll compared with other electors.

Enrol to Vote Week is one way of ensuring that young people can exercise their right to vote in federal, state and local government elections when they turn 18.

Enrol to Vote Week also reminds students and the community that you only have to complete one enrolment form to have your name put on the electoral roll for federal, state and local government elections, and that once enrolled, you must complete a new enrolment form every time you move.
